Endress+Hauser, an ICATT Network Company with U.S. headquarters in Greenwood, Indiana, has been honored with the prestigious 2018 HERMES AWARD for exceptional innovation in industrial technology. Endress+Hauser’s product is iTHERM TrustSens, a hygienic and compact thermometer with a self-calibrating sensor.

Germany’s Federal Minister of Education and Research, Anja Karliczek, presented the award to Endress+Hauser at the opening ceremony of the HANNOVER MESSE trade show on April 22, in front of a crowd including German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The jury that selected Endress+Hauser as the winner noted its admiration that the product is the first to provide precise, reliable self-calibration based on the Curie temperature.

“Industry Consortium for Advanced Technical Training is delighted to congratulate Endress+Hauser on this award,” says Mario Kratsch, Head of the ICATT Apprenticeship Program. “It’s a well-deserved recognition of the company’s high-caliber work and leadership.”

As a Network Company in the ICATT Apprenticeship Program, Endress+Hauser offers participants the opportunity to learn valuable skills for in-demand jobs. Apprentices receive hands-on learning and theoretical training as they learn the ropes as Advanced Manufacturing Technicians or CNC Machining Professionals.

Over the next decade, there will be an estimated shortage of 3.4 million workers. The ICATT Apprenticeship Program aims to close the critical skills gap facing high-tech companies and manufacturers. ICATT partners with Network Companies to identify their most important positions and competencies, and develop a sustainable pipeline of talent to fill these needs. The program is open to all companies with operations in the Midwest, and is based on the successful German Dual Education System model.

“Endress+Hauser is an accomplished industry leader and a valued partner,” says Kratsch. “We are fortunate to work with the Endress+Hauser team to mentor young talent, foster technological advances, and train a new generation of highly skilled workers.”
