What are the technician's responsibilities?

ICATT’s Advanced Manufacturing Technician apprentices learn to manufacture, maintain and monitor high-tech mechanical systems. Technicians use their advanced skills in metalworking combined with knowledge of fluid power and circuits to build or repair machinery, equipment and mechanical parts, and assemble these into working systems.

Areas of Operation as an Advanced Manufacturing Technician:

  • Machine building or service
  • Maintaining production machines and systems
  • Metalworking and assembly
They set up individual systems and monitor their operation. Should an error occur, Technicians diagnose, troubleshoot and then repair and maintain as needed.

Successful Skills

  • Understand a variety of technologies and their function in metalworking, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot a wide array of mechanical issues
  • Be familiar with production and project management
