When Christina Schubert heard about the ICATT Apprenticeship Program from an instructor, she knew it would be a good fit for her aptitudes and goals. Christina applied for the program in fall 2018 and began a mechatronics apprenticeship in June. Skills taught as part of the ICATT Apprenticeship Program are designed to be transferrable, so when circumstances changed during the pandemic, the ICATT team introduced Christina to several companies within the network and she started with Mauser Packing Solutions in September 2020.

At Mauser, the team acts as mentors who are invested in her success. She said she feels supported by the maintenance team who works closely to guide and train her on how to fix and rebuild components on blow molding machines.

“ICATT is a program that helps you gain experience and skills – in mechanical design, in mathematics,” Christina said. “I am also getting hands-on training in PLC programming, the trainers at Mauser Packaging Solutions give step by step instructions on how to use a PLC programmer and how to troubleshoot using a PLC program.”

Christina is looking forward to gaining more experience at Mauser.

“My goals are to become an Advanced Maintenance Mechanical Technician and be a partner with Mauser Packaging Solutions.”
